Rajasthan raises tariff for newly-commissioned wind plants

Rajasthan has raised the tariff for wind power plants commissioned during fiscal years 2010-11 and 2011-12.

This is based on an order of the Appellate Tribunal of Electricity directing the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission to consider repayment of loan amount equal to depreciation in calculation of interest charges in tariff orders.

For plants commissioned during the previous fiscal year, tariff has been revised to Rs 4.10/kWh from Rs 3.87/kWh for sale of power in Jailsalmer, Barmer and Jodhpur. For other districts, the tariff has been raised to Rs 4.31/kWh from Rs 4.08/kWh.

Similarly, for plants commissioned during the ongoing fiscal period, the commission has raised the tariff to Rs 4.46/kWh from Rs 4.22/kWh in the three districts of Jailsalmer, Barmer and Jodhpur while the tariff has been raised to Rs 4.69/kWh from its earlier level of Rs 4.44/kWh in the other districts of the state. This is a hike of 5.68% each, from the existing levelised tariff, in all the districts.

Additionally, the commission has allowed the wind power companies and developers to claim the difference between the tariff determined earlier and the revised tariff, from the distribution companies in three equal payments during the last three months of the present fiscal i.e. January-March 2012.
