Fugro eyes more RE Geo-data projects in APAC
The company also sees potential project growth in the Philippines and Vietnam.
Fugro is targeting to grow its presence in Asia Pacific, providing Geo-data for renewable energy projects, particularly in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
Jerry Paisley, Regional Director, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific at Fugro, said Geo-data is critical for Asia, particularly for countries like Japan and the Philippines which are both situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire.
"We have a lot of challenges [such as] volcanoes, earthquakes, typhoons, so a lot of ground movement and complex conditions," he told Asian Power.
"It's very important when you're doing your engineering design, that you're building and constructing a facility that's going to be safe throughout its design life," he added.
Geo-data measures the environment, surveying the winds, waves, current, and geological conditions of the seabed and subsurface which are crucial aspects that need to be understood by project developers.
Paisley added that the Philippines and Vietnam are also markets where they expect to see growth and expansion.
Fugro has conducted projects across the industry which also include traditional gas businesses such as the Malampaya gas field in the Philippines.
