BHEL's tardy thermal project implementation delays operations by 2 years
BHEL has been unable to conclude the trial operation completion for the two 125 MW units of the project of the Barsingar thermal power station.
This has caused a delay in commercial operations by over 2 years.
Even though all efforts were put in by Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited to solve the contractual issues with BHEL, there was continuous delay in execution of almost all works at the site. The major setback faced was that the full load operation could not be initiated due to the problem of `cyclone choke` in the boilers of both units.
Furthermore, problems associated with the electro static precipitator and turbine added to the failures that BHEL was already struggling to rectify. Currently, the units are under system tuning and correction, the completion of which can lead to timely conclusion of the trial operation.
