
NTPC, NALCO ink deal for supply of power to future smelter plant
The smelter plant will stream over 1200 MW of power.
Indian utility company NTPC Limited has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) to supply the aluminium firm's upcoming smelter plant with over 1,200 megawatts of round-the-clock power.
The power to be supplied will be from various sources such as coal-based thermal, solar PV, other renewables, energy storage, and the like.

The smelter plant is located in Angul, Odisha.
NTPC targets non-fossil-based capacity to 45% to 50% of its overall portfolio, comprising a 60 GW renewable capacity.
