Malaysia’s TNB collaborates with 3 Thai energy firms for energy transition

The MOUs were signed with EGAT, Planet Utility, and B.Grimm Power.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has signed deals with three major energy players in Thailand to develop regional infrastructure for renewable energy.

It said in a statement that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand will set up a joint working committee to explore the feasibility of a proposed enhancement of the interconnection capacity between Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand.

TNB subsidiary TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd inked an MOU with Planet Utility Co. to study the potential of renewables and power generation technologies opportunities in Thailand. This will include the evaluation of strategic options for possible investments in floating solar, solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects.

Meanwhile, TNB Power Generation partnered with B.Grimm Power Public Co. to look into opportunities for collaboration for the development of renewable power projects in Southeast Asia.

"These collaborations are strategic steps to realise key milestones in our responsible Energy Transition plan, and TNB's overall sustainability pathway commitment," said TNB President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Indera Ir. Baharin Din.
