Three Japanese companies eye investments in Sarawak

They expressed interest in digital data, biomass and hydrogen-related industries.

Sarawak deputy chief minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said three Japanese firms are eyeing an investment in the company, the Borneo Post Online reports.

The representatives of these firms met with the chief minister in Tokyo and expressed interest in investing in digital data, biomass and hydrogen-related industries.

He was told by the representatives that Sarawak was chosen because of its strategic location and attractive incentives provided by the Sarawak government, making business more conducive for them.

One of the companies said they are interested in piloting a hydrogen plant, whilst the biomass project will be a joint venture with Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).

Awang Tengah said meetings with the companies was fruitful because they were all “very positive” towards the investment, but said they could not proceed to sign any agreement as negotiation was still on-going.
