India's renewable energy sector to get additional funding under first supplementary DFG

The ministry of new and renewable energy will be granted Rs 5 crore for Non plan expenditure under the

first batch of the Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2012-13. The first batch comprises of 60 Grants and 2

appropriations in total, requiring a gross additional expenditure of Rs 32,119.5 crore by the exchequer.
8The grant is sought as a technical supplementary grant as the expenditure for it will be met from the

National Clean Energy Fund. Notably, technical supplementary grant/appropriation is provided when it is matched

by additional receipts/recoveries or corresponding saving of the Ministry/ Department.
8The supplementary grant will be used to develop solar power under various off-grid/ distributed and

decentralized renewable power schemes.
8Pertinently, 560 Solar Photovoltaic water pumping systems will be installed in 6 districts of Bihar under the

Saurkranti Sichai Yojana.
8The funds will be further utilised to install Solar Photovoltaic lights and small capacity Solar Photovoltaic

systems through NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).
8Additionally, Solar Photovoltaic power plants up to size 500 KWp will also be installed in different diesel

consuming sectors throughout the country.
8The grant will also be used to pursue installation of Solar Photovoltaic power plants up to 4 MWp capacity at

different Indian Railway Locations under the government's flagship Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
