
Ho Chi Minh City cuts down electricity use by 2.7%
Ho Chi Minh city has saved more than 232.8 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to VND 325.7 billion, in the first seven months of the year.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, the amount of saved electricity accounts for 2.73% of power consumption of the first seven months of the year or more than 8,513 million kWh.
Public lighting has saved 46.50 million kWh; administrative units have saved more than 22.6 million kWh. Electricity for daily life lighting has been reduced by more than 120.4 million kWh, while production industries have saved more than 43.2 million kWh.
According to city power, with the powerful and far-reaching deployment of energy efficiency programs, the amount of saved power this year is expected to be about 320 million kWh or 43.5% higher than that of 2010.
With the results in the first seven months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City is considered an effective implementer of energy saving across the country. A series of propagation banners, the "Power saving family" program... have been heavily deployed around the city in recent times from districts to wards and communes.
