Bangladesh's parliamentary body recommends coal-based power plant

Bangladesh's parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Planning recommended the setting up of coal- based power plant to lessen the use of gas.

 

The committee also recommended taking immediate steps for repairing the rundown roads instead of constructing new ones.

The committee came up with the suggestions at its 41st meeting at the parliament complex in a meeting with its chairman HN Ashiqur Rahman.

The meeting discussed different aspects of the sixth five- year plan and the upcoming budget, issues relating to power generation and its distribution, road repair and construction and employment of youths.

They also discussed the evaluation, achievement and the present state of the sixth five-year plan from 2011 to 2015 and inclusion of desired goals in the upcoming budget.
