Bangladesh PM seeks German support for power sector
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought German support for Bangladesh’s power sector, especially in the area of renewable energy.
The Bangladesh PM has met German Foreign Minister Dr Guido Westerwelle at her official residence Ganobhaban to discuss the matter.
The German foreign minister said Germany is a development partner of Bangladesh and the cooperation between the two countries will increase in the future.
He said Germany is putting emphasis on renewable energy and extending cooperation to the developing countries to this end.
Bangladesh has taken a plan to set up 2,800 biogas plants in seven districts by 2011- 2013 to meet the demand of energy in remote areas.
Institute of Fuel Research and Development of BCSIR has developed Portable Fiberglass Biogas Plant for commercial use of biogas.
Two such plants have been installed at Ganobhaban at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
