Bangladesh asked to get 30,000MW power from 2 Indian states

Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki said that his state could transfer electricity from hydropower plants through a grid to Bangladesh.  

He ralyed this to a visiting Bangladeshi business delegation led by president of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Matlub Ahmed.

Tuki explained that if the Bangladesh government allowed its entrepreneurs to invest in Arunachal power sector the state would give them scope for setting up hydro-power plants from which electricity can be transferred through a grid to Bangladesh.

The IBCCI president said, "The offer is a great scope for Bangladesh. If the government allows our prospective investors to set up hydro-power plants at a cheaper cost it will substantially help our country mitigate its power crunch. There are also other lucrative fields where Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can invest in Arunachal Pradesh," said the IBCCI president. 

Bangladesh businessmen hoping to put up a 20,000 mw hydro-power in the state.

Ahmed mentioned noted that Bangladesh can also set up hydro-power and coal-based power plants along the border areas of Meghalaya taking coal from the state at a cheaper rate. About 10,000 mw power can be generated from Meghalaya for Bangladesh.

"If the government allows our entrepreneurs without any hindrances to invest in the North-Eastern states of India, commonly known as seven sisters, our businessmen are capable of giving a good dividend to the country," Ahmed said.
