THDC ascertains responsibility for project's time and cost overrun

Tehri Hydro Development Corporation held its second meeting to determine responsibility for time and cost overrun in its 400 MW Koteshwar hydro electric project in Uttarakhand.

 

Marred with both time and cost overruns, the project's revised cost estimates as of June 2009 stand at Rs 2,288.59 crore, as against Rs 1,301.56 crore at October 1999 price levels.

The hydel major was also able to synchronize the first unit of the project only this month when it was expected to go on stream in December 2010.

The second unit is expected to begin commercial operations by June 2011. The third and the fourth units are expected to go on stream in February and March 2012, respectively.
