NLC evaluated bids for boiler works of new thermal station
Neyveli Lignite Corporation is expected to conclude tendering activities for its new thermal power project, consisting of 2 units of 500 MW each.
The company has already floated tenders for placement of orders for boiler, turbo generator and balance of plants.
Restructuring activities for the fuel linkage, which will be supplied from existing Mine-I and Mine-IA to the power station, has also been commenced. The new project was sanctioned by the government in June 2011 to replace the existing 600 MW thermal power station, which has been in operation for more than 50 years.
The cumulative expenditure, up to June, amounts to Rs 0.81 crore against the sanctioned cost of Rs 1114.18 crore. Furthermore, the first and second units are expected to be commissioned by June 2015 and December 2015 respectively.
