Madhya Pradesh requests shift of coal linkage to Korba
The Madhya Pradesh Power requested for rationalization of the coal linkage to the plant by shifting higher grade coal of the Korea-Rewa mines in the state to the Korba field mines in Chhattisgarh, which has lower (`F`) grade coal.
In view of the recent hike in prices of grades `A` & `B` of coal, it has become economically unviable for the state-owned firm's thermal power project in Birsingpur, namely, the Sanjay Gandhi thermal power station.
However, for the power utility`s Amarkantak TPS and Sarni TPS, it was concluded that no change in linkage has been envisaged for the time being.
MPPGCL`s Sanjay Gandhi TPS, with an annual coal quantity of 6.4 million tonnes, currently gets 60% coal supplied from the Korba area of Chhattisgarh and 40% from Korea Rewa mines of M.P., while the Sarni TPS, with an ACQ of 6.6 MT gets its supply from the WCL mines in MP and Maharashtra.
