Kerala, Orissa leave plant construction for allocated coal to NTPC

Kerala has asked NTPC to develop a 1000 MW power project as a expansion of the central power developer`s Ramagundam power plant utilizing the coal blocks allocated the state in Baitarani, Orissa.

Orissa has made a similar request to NTPC.

This will save the states from going through the trouble of setting up the generation capacities on their own.

The two states are now keen to set up efficient power plants on the basis coal allocated to them because as per the new tariff policy of the government, no new power plant can come up under the old cost plus system.
