Java-Bali peak load to reach 20,775 MW

PLN expects the peak load on its Java-Bali electricity system to reach 20,775 megawatts on November 29, 2012.

"So far, the highest load of electricity occurred on the night of April 24, 2012, reaching20,343 MW," said PLN operational director, I Gusti Ngurah Adyana.

"It will continue to rise and reach a peak of 20,775 MW on November 29, 2012," I Gusti Ngurah added.

He stated the average capacity of PLN`s Java-Bali power network was about 26,215 MW, so itwas expected that the need for power would still be met during the peak period.

Four thermal power plants units with a combined capacity of 1,500 MW are scheduled to operate this year.

The four PLTUs are PLTU Paiton 9, which has a capacity of 600 MW and will be operationalfrom May; Pacitan I, with 300 MW, will start in June; Pacitan 2, with 300 MW starts in September; and Pelabuhan Ratu, with 300 MW starts in November.
