Energy fair generates MoUs between India and Bangladesh
India Investrade-2011concluded with a pledge to develop the bilateral ties between Bangladesh and India to boost the economic relations between the two next-door neighbors.
The three-day exhibition started in Dhaka on May 21 to showcase energy and electrical equipment of India and Bangladesh.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce organised the fair at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel with support from the Indian High Commission here. A total of 48 companies from India took part in the fair.
The businessmen of the two countries decided to sign a total of six memorandums of understanding and another bunch of 11MoUs are under negotiations.
Trade proposals worth Tk 1,273 crore came from the trade fair, the concluding ceremony was told on Monday morning.
The Indian businessmen have expressed interest in investing in power and energy sectors and exporting power equipment to Bangladesh.
On the other hand, the host Bangladeshi businessmen also expressed their willingness to utilize the opportunities of a big market in the northeaster states of India.
The businessmen of both the countries placed demand for introducing multiple-entry visa for them.
