Bihar to procure 450 MW from Essar Power

A levelised tariff of Rs 3.057 per unit for 450 MW power to be procured by the the state electricity board from Essar Power Jharkhand Limited.

The state board had petitioned the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission to adopt tariff for long-term procurement of 450 MW base load power on long-term basis under Case-1 route of the tariff based competitive bidding guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power.

Out of the five bidders namely EPJL, PTC India Limited - Monnet Ispat Energy Limited, PTCIL - KVK Nilachal Power Private Limited, PTCIL - Ind Barath Power Infrastructure Limited, GMR Energy Limited, and Jas Infrastructure Capital
Limited, EPJL the L1 bidder by offering a levelised tariff of Rs 3.057 per unit.

In addition, the commission has also approved the year-wise tariff, for which the power purchase agreement PPA was signed, to meet BSEB's base load requirement for a period of 25 years beginning July 9, 2014.
