2,988.5 MW of power supply affected as 14 power units fail on December 12

Fifteen power units worth 2,988.5 MW of generation capacity and forty five transmission lines across the country were taken offline on Wednesday.
8Three units, aggregating 910 MW, were taken out in the Northern region. All these units are expected to be revived within two days
8In the same region, two 210 MW units of the Anpara TPS were shut down for a short duration of the day due to tripping of outgoing transmission lines creating trouble in power evacuation.
8Meanwhile in the southern region, a 150 MW unit of the Meenakshi TPS was taken out for a few hours due to turbine differential expansion problems.
8Two units of the Kolghat TPS in West Bengal were temporarily made non operational due to developing faults. The unit 2 of the power plant was taken offline due to low demand. Both units have now been synchronised.
8In the western region, six power units failed affecting 1,067.5 MW of capacity of the region. A unit of the Chandrapura TPS and a unit of the Nashik power plant were shut down due to boiler tube leakage. The unit 2 of the Korba (E) expansion was taken out for GT wall cleaning.
8The first unit of the Agartala Gas Turbine power project (AGTPP), in the north east region, was also forced to shut down for inspection purposes.
8Fog and over voltage create a menace for smooth electricity evacuation in the northern region which witnessed twenty one transmission lines going offline during the day.
8In the eastern region, seven transmission lines had developed faults whereas eleven transmission lines had failed in the western region.
8Moreover, five transmission line including the HVDC Bhadravathi Pole 1 were taken out of service in the southern region.
