Renova sets back operations of large-scale biomass plant
The commercial operation is moved from January to March 2024.
Japan-based Renova decided to move the start of operations of the Ishinomaki Hibarino Biomass Power Plant to March 2024 from the initial target of January 2024 due to technical issues.
In a statement, Renova said additional time is needed for final adjustments to the boiler and turbine facilities for a long-term stable operation at the plant.

The power plant is owned by a Renova equity method affiliate Ishinomaki Hibarino Biomass Energy G.K.
Renova also noted that its affiliate has received liquidated damages from the developer due to the change in the start of commercial operations.
The feed-in-tariff (FIT) based electricity sales started during the plant’s trial operation, with the FIT electricity sales running from June 2023 to May 2024.
