Powergrid braces for easement problems in $9.8M project

Powergrid reached a deal with NTPC Ltd to undertake the US$9.8 million turnkey execution of D/C Transmission line from Dadri to Loni.

Based on the a bilateral agreement with NTPC Ltd., the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. will provide the complete design, engineering, tendering, evaluation, procurement, project management, erection, testing and commissioning of the project.

Though a severe right of way problem is anticipated during construction of the line due to proximity to Delhi Urban Area, Powergrid is eyeing completion of the 44 km long 400 KV line by August 2010, as this will cater the requirement of Commonwealth Games.

The Agreement was signed by Sh. H.L.Tayal, Executive Director for Business Development of Powergrid, and Sh. K.K.Agarwal, Regional Executive Director - National Capital of NTPC.
