
Pakistan to start constructing 100MW Thar coal project
Civil work on Pakistan's Thar coal power project has been accelerated in preparation for construction work.
The Thar project will involve the development of a 100MW coal-power plant, which will be operational between 2012 and 2013.
Work on the gas purification plant is expected to begin soon and first fire of the gasification will be carried out in April 2011 opening gas production, followed by the design, installation and commissioning of work on the coal power plant.
The government received approval for an Integrated Gas Combined Cycle for the plant from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council.
The total project is expected to cost US$104 million.
