NEEPCO awaits budget sanction for thermal plant

NEEPCO's  is still awaiting sanction for its budgeted outlay for its West Khasi Hills coal based thermal plant from the government.

 

The 240 MW TPP, located in Meghalaya, has its cost pegged at Rs 1298 crore. The Government of Meghalaya has already, in principle, conveyed its approval for the project.

It is expected to be completed 32 months from the date of investment decision.

The plant is being proposed to be built in the vicinity of the Langrin Coalfield in the West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya.

Out of the total estimated outlay, civil works at plant form a major component of the expenditure at Rs 781 crore. Further, erection and testing activities also have a major portion of funds allocated to it.

The first year tariff for the project is pegged at Rs 2.10 per unit, while the Budget Estimate for 2011-12 is Rs 5 crore.
