GE to expand operation in Vietnam

General Electric wants to expand in Vietnam after putting into operation the Hai Phong wind turbine factory.

“We are working with many investors to support wind power projects in Vietnam,” said GE Vice Chairman John Krenicki in an interview with Dau Tu newspaper. He added that most investors are ready to implement such projects.

Krenicki explained that Vietnam has the largest potential of wind energy in the region and that the Vietnamese government is working to establish a concrete legal framework and incentives for investment in wind power, which will further promote the development of the wind energy sector.

The wind turbine factory in the northern port city of Hai Phong , the first of its kind in Vietnam , has been built at a cost of US$ 61 million. The first phase of the project is expected to churn out over 200 wind power turbines with a combined capacity of 1.5 MW, contributing to meeting the growing demand for power generation equipment to support cleaner energy production.
