CLP to expand gas power plant in India
The Central Electricity Authority has approved China Light and Power's proposed expansion of the 1,200MW gas-based power plant in Gujarat, India.
The $1.3 billion expansion is expected to revive the project, which had been stalled for five years, due to the scarcity of natural gas.
The company said it plans to construct the plant only when the committed fuel allocation is fulfilled.
The project is expected to get fuel allocation starting next year, following appraisal by the Central Electricity Authority.
The plant is expected to generate 655MW of energy, reports the Business Standard.
