
Bangladesh Inaugurates 2 Power Plants
Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the 100 MW furnace oil-fired Quick Rental Power Plant and laid the foundation of a 335- MW dual-fuel combined cycle power plant at Meghnaghat.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 25.17 MW captive power plant, set up by Everest Power Generation Company, a sister concern of local Meghna Group.
The IEL Consortium and Associate Limited of Orion group set up the 100 MW Meghnaghat power plant that went into operation on March 17.
The 335-MW Meghnaghat dual-fuel combined cycle power plant project will be implemented by local power sector giant Summit Group.
The Prime Minister said her government has been working relentlessly to raise the country's power generation to meet the growing demand of power in the country.
She expalined that her government had taken short-mid and long term programmes to this end. She also referred various Adviser to the Prime Minister on Power and Energy Dr Towfiq- E-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Brig. Gen M. Enamul Haque and Power Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present on the occasion.
