Australia grants feasibility license for Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm
The project could generate 1.2 gigawatts of renewable electricity.
The Australian Government has granted a feasibility licence for the Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm, a project located in the Southern Ocean area off the Victorian coast.
If approved, the project could generate 1.2 gigawatts of renewable electricity and create job opportunities across the planning, construction, and operational phases.
The Offshore Infrastructure Registrar received one application for a feasibility licence in the 1,030km² zone. The final decision on feasibility licences will follow consultation with First Nations groups.
If granted, the licence holder will consult various organisations that may be affected by the development, including First Nations groups. The development of management plans, outlining how the project will be carried out across all stages, is also required.
