Amazon inks deal with Iberdrola for RE development

The projects will be in APAC, Europe, and the US.

Amazon and clean energy firm Iberdrola signed a power purchase agreement to develop new wind and solar capacity in the Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.

In a statement, Iberdrola said the agreement will support Amazon in its bid to power its operations with renewable energy fully by 2025, five years earlier than its initial commitment for 2030.

The company added that two of its offshore plants in Germany can supply Amazon with 1.1 terawatt-hours of clean energy annually, equal to meeting the needs of over 314,000 homes.

Once completed in 2024, Baltic Eagle will have a total capacity of 476MW, whilst Windanker, which will be completed in 2026, will have a 300MW capacity.
