Adani commissions 2nd 660MW supercritical unit in India

Adani Power has commissioned the second 660MW supercritical power unit at its 4,620MW coal-based Mundra power plant in Gujarat, India.

 

The supercritical turbine brings the total installed capacity of the plant to 2,640MW, comprising four units of 330MW each and two supercritical units of 660MW each.

Adani Power CEO Ravi Sharma told the Times of India that the company expects to install the remaining three supercritical units by the end of the financial year.

Under long-term power purchasing agreements, Adani will sell 2,000MW to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam.

The company will release the electricity from Mundra power plant through a 400KV transmission line to Dehgam in Gujarat, covering 430km, and a dedicated 500Kv direct line from Mundra to Mohindergarh in Haryana, covering 1,000km.
