ABB wins $15M transformer deal in India
ABB won an order worth about $15 million from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
The order was booked in the first quarter.
ABB will supply, erect, test and commission 500 megavolt ampere, 765 kilovolt autotransformers for the Jabalpur pooling substation, which will receive power from the eastern Indian state of Orissa and distribute it within the central state of Madhya Pradesh. The transformers will be manufactured in India at the company’s manufacturing facility in Vadodara and commissioning is scheduled for the middle of 2013.
“These transformers are highly reliable and designed to ensure maximum availability, energy savings and reduced life cycle costs. Our global technologies and extensive local manufacturing and testing facilities enable us to offer competitive, best-in-class solutions,” said Markus Heimbach, head of ABB’s global Transformers business, a part of the company’s Power Products division. “We are pleased to continue supporting the development of the country’s infrastructure and Power Grid’s efforts in building capacity and strengthening the transmission network.”
