NZ geothermal plant to use Toshiba equipment

Toshiba will supply geothermal power equipment for the Te Mihi power station in Taupo, New Zealand.

Based on a contract with the McConnell Dowell, SNC-Lavalin, Parsons Brinkerhoff joint venture, Toshiba will supply two 83MW class geothermal turbines, each with a generator and condenser in 2012.

Toshiba will carry out the design engineering and manufacturing for the project at its Keihin Product Operations in Japan.

The Te Mihi power plant is located in the Taupo Volcanic Zone in the North island of New Zealand.

The project is Toshiba Group's first geothermal power project in the country.
