Power project developers face risks due to the insurgency and woeful security situation endemic to the North-East region of the country.
The power utility has claimed that commissioning of its projects is being hampered due to hesitation of reputed bidders to participate in the major contracts, due to such security concerns.
In addition, problems in land acquisition due to the peculiar land holding system prevailing in the region, difficult terrain due to remoteness of the area, unavailability of skilled manpower for construction and O&M projects and other infrastructure constraints are also making life difficult for North Eastern Electric Power Corporation.
