Newly appointed Daniel Westerman wants the grid to handle 100% renewable energy by 2025.
The newly-appointed head of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Daniel Westerman, has set an ambitious goal to see the Australian grid handle 100% renewable energy by 2025.
Westerman said he plans to use his talents, capabilities, experience, and know-how to engineer grids that are capable of running at 100% instantaneous penetration of renewable energy.
“Under my leadership, AEMO will work closely and collaboratively with governments, industry, and communities to design the affordable, reliable energy system that Australia needs. An energy system that’s capable of handling 100% renewable energy, at any moment of the day, by 2025,” Westerman said.
