Malaysia's $8.5b Manjung 5 coal-fired plant starts operations
It was fired up three days ahead of its target date.
The 1000MW Manjung 5 Coal-Fired Power Plant built in Manjung region, Malaysia commenced commercial operations on September 28.
The project was completed ahead of the contracted period within 45 months, and utilises USC (ultra-super critical) technology.
It is slated to provide power to around 1.3 million people is slated to be supplied to the central region of Malaysia. The project was completed by TNB and worked with a consortium composed of Sumitomo Corporation and Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd.
