China Power: Clean energy up 40% in 5 years

In the coming five years China's adjustment for the power source structure of the corporation would focus on accelerating the development of clean energy. These include hydraulic power, nuclear power, wind power, and solar power generation. and continuously increasing the use of clean energy to eventually realize a low-carbon and clean development.

 

This was pointed out by Lu Qizhou, General Manager of China Power Investment Corporation pointed out at 2011 work meeting

The first share-holding nuclear station will be put into operation and the construction site for a new nuclear plant along the coastal area should be selected as quickly as possible. With respect to hydraulic power, the corporation will be devoted to the development of resources in the midstream and upstream of Huanghe River, strive for upscale hydroelectric-power projects in other valleys, and develop medium and small-size hydroelectric-power projects in an orderly and economical manner. As for wind power, the corporation will carry out the construction of a large-scale wind power base and realize the wind-aluminum-electricity joint operation. Meanwhile, it will carry out M & A and restructuring for quality medium and small-size hydraulic and wind power enterprises to expand the overall scale of hydraulic and wind power industry.

By 2015, the power-generating capacity is expected to reach 100 million KW, among which hydraulic power will account for 22.10 million KW, nuclear power 5.2 million KW, wind power & solar power 11 million KW, and gas power & IGCC 4.4 million KW; the proportion of clean energy will be increased to 40%.

At present, China Power Investment Corporation ranks No.1 among five giant groups of China with its hydraulic power in the upstream of Huanghe River and hydropower installed capacity. Based on the state-planned large wind power bases in Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, and Liaoning, China Power Investment Corporation's wind power installed capacity has surpassed 1.8 million KW, and its new energy is developing rapidly.
