State Grid Zhenjiang’s new module enhances low-voltage PV estimation accuracy

State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Research Institute developed the module.

State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has implemented a new module that will enable the company to improve its real-time estimation accuracy for 26,000 low-voltage distributed photovoltaics users.

In a statement, Zhenjiang said the implementation of the Reference Station Assisted Selection Function Module in April, developed by the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Research Institute, brought its estimation accuracy standard value to over 95%.

The company said that the module could retrieve the latest historical algorithms of the provincial-level observable and measurable system for distributed photovoltaic, as well as output analysis and real-time output observation results based on dispatchers’ actual needs.

“Through in-depth analysis of vast amounts of historical data, the system intelligently evaluates and calculates the matching degree of medium- and low-voltage photovoltaic power stations, providing dispatchers with powerful decision support to adjust photovoltaic reference stations more accurately and efficiently, achieving large-scale optimized management,” the company said.

In 2022, Zhenjiang and Jiangsu established a provincial-level observable and measurable system for distributed photovoltaics due to the rapid growth of the company’s low-voltage distributed projects.

This was meant to address the adverse impact of large-scale integration of such projects on power system balance and equipment overload.

However, its reliance on dispatchers’ selection of photovoltaic power stations at medium voltage and above resulted in low efficiency and inaccuracies, which led to the development of the Reference Station Assisted Selection Function Module.
