Here's how critical clean energy policy is for Asia

And where do feed-in tariffs fit in the picture?

According to a release, Asia was the largest region for clean energy investments in 2012 and will maintain the lead for the foreseeable future. 

Government policies are crucial for Asia to stay ahead of the rest of the world. Clean energy policy will be one of the key issues being discussed during the 3rd annual Clean Power Asia Conference in Bangkok, Thailand from 29-30 April 2013.

Clean Power Asia is a conference for key renewable energy developments relating to policy, new technology, strategy and finance and is officially endorsed by Thailand's Ministry of Energy, Department of Alternative Energy Development & Efficiency and supported by EGAT, PEA, MEA, and Clean Power Asia.

“One of the focus areas this year is policy and we have speakers from several Asian governments representing their countries, like Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao and Thailand”, says Sally Tan, Project Director for Clean Power Asia.

“We are very pleased to have Ms Gladys Mak, Director of FiT, Sustainable Energy Development Authority , Malaysia deliver a keynote speech on the subject of ‘Understanding Malaysia’s use of feed-in tariffs as mandated in the Renewable Energy Act to gain energy security and autonomy”, Tan continues.

“She will discuss issues like the considerations when implementing feed-in tariffs, and how to use feedin tariffs to ensure that sustainable energy plays an important role in the nation’s economic development and environment conservation”.
