Deals in the energy sector slump 35% to 86 in Q3 2011

The deals only amounted to $66.057b compared to $152.13 last year.

A Reuters report said that economic woes in Middle East and North Africa damaged investor confidence in the industry.

From 132 mergers & acquisitions and joint ventures in Q3 2010, deals in the energy and natural resources sector only reached 86 this year.

But according to the report interest of Asian companies in China and Malaysia in unconventional hydrocarbons still remained positive.
