Bangladesh gets Indian assistance on power projects
Work is underway to build transmission connectivity to enable Bangladesh to import 500MW of electricity from India.
A total of 250MW will be available by the end of 2012 or early 2013.
A feasibility study for the constrution of a coal-fired power plant in Khulna, Bangladesh has also been completed by India.
Bangladesh also plans to import 1GW of power from India, Nepal and Bhutan in order to triple its power generation capacity to 15.35GW by the end of 2015.
