Delegates from different countries across the globe gathered last October 14-17 to witnessed one of the most anticipated events in the energy industry, the 22nd World Energy Congress. Held in Daegu, Korea, the event set the stage by tackling pressing issues in the global energy industry.
Leaders from various firms talked about how technology and innovation play an important role in exploiting unconventional energy. The event also probed the untapped resources in Central Asia that could lure more foreign investments and drive the industry's growth poetntial.
It highlighted that Central Asia must attract more foreign investors to boost the energy sector and at the same time the region must also produce around 3%of global energy needs--all of which bode well for the industry's business inititives.
The event also touched the changing energy market and its booming opportunities for both independent and national oil companies. Experts also explored the future of the energy industry along with the risks and challenges that could hamper its growth in the region and the rest of the world.
Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, speaking at a press conference, was unequivocal: “The quality of future energy will determine the future quality of life of people on this planet.”
