6th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress held in Shanghai
One hundred twenty industry leaders were present last February 23-24.
According to a release, China's development strategy for nuclear power during the period of the '12th Five-Year Plan' remains unaltered even after the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident. It has been indicated by statistical data that currently there are 28 nuclear reactors under construction, and 38 nuclear reactors are carrying out preliminary work.
After the remarkable success of the previous events, Noppen hosted its 6th Annual China Nuclear Power Congress in Shanghai. The event took place on 23rd and 24th February 2012 with 120 prominent industry leaders, senior directors and engineers from China's nuclear power plants, top design institutes, construction groups, engineering companies and major nuclear power equipment production bases. “Gained new knowledge in several areas. Very insightful” Thomas Koshy, International Atomic Energy Agency
The conference Chairman, Mr.Wang Feiyue, Director of State Key Laboratory of Management and Control for Complex Systems gave the opening speech on Day 1, warmly welcoming all the attendees and expressed his excitement in regards to the development of nuclear power in China. There were a number of excellent speakers at the event; an eminent speaker on the morning of day one was Tian Jiashu, Deputy Chief Engineer, China National Nuclear Corporation.
He made an excellent speech in regards to how to implement a safe and efficient development approach and promoting healthy development of the nuclear power industry. His presentation was split into three parts; firstly he covered why nuclear power development, secondly he spoke about rethinking the nuclear power development post the Fukushima nuclear accident. Lastly, he mentioned how CNNC will be committed to developing safer and more advanced nuclear power technology.
The attendees listened intently to his presentation and they found it to be rich in information. Mr. Tian Jiashu concluded his speech by pointing out that post Fukushima, we should seeking for higher standards and developing safer and more advanced technologies to accelerate the development of the nuclear power industry. He reiterated that CNNC will be committed to pushing forward the healthy development of China’s nuclear power industry. “Had included many different levels of nuclear industry chain, viewpoints are quite clear.” Liu Hui, United Force Corporation.
Thomas Koshy, Head, Nuclear Power Technology Development, and Division of Nuclear followed his speech Power, International Atomic Energy Agency. His presentation was mainly based on the evolving challenges and historic solutions in regards to the nuclear industry. He introduced IAEA’s mission and tools, historic plant events and historic successes, and lessons from history.. He finished his presentation by stating that we need to regain the confidence of the public about the performance of nuclear power stations and learn from the historical successes and failures. His presentation was interesting and well received by all the delegates.
In the afternoon of day two Jean-Baptiste Pernot, Installed Base China Vice President, AREVA used his presentation to introduce EPR’s safety approach which includes safety DCS‘TELEPERM XS’ and post-severe accident containment monitoring system. He also spoke in regards to the EPR design general philosophy, protection against external hazards, and management of severe accidents.
Further introductions came from, Chen Binde, Vice President of the Nuclear Power Institute of China. He spoke on day two of the conference and introduced the development objectives and technology roadmap of ‘CSR1000 Supercritical-Water-Cooled Reactor’. He also spoke of the key technologies and latest developments Supercritical-Water-Cooled Reactor as one of the 6 reactor types of Gen IV System. “Well- scheduled, good control of time and the topics are all current” Zhang Yue, Sherwin-Williams.
